This disappointing race is only the sad epilogue of a series which began on the Test Day (Sunday June 5) where theAlpine A480 was found to suffer from a glaring top speed deficit compared to Toyota and Glickenhaus. The first free practice sessions confirmed this with a gap greater than 2” over the other cars in the Hypercar category despite a good balance – aero and mechanical – confirmed by the best time in the third sector, the slowest and most technical on the circuit.
