This year, on Tuesday June 7, a new challenge will be set up with the Pit-stop Challenge which, as its name suggests, rewards the fastest pit stop. Alongside the races, the hydrogen village will open its doors until Sunday June 12 to “promote the deployment of hydrogen in motorsport. » It is on Wednesday June 8 that the 24 Hours of Le Mans event really begins with the first free practice session at 14:00 p.m. Before that, it was Porsche Sprint Challenge which will open the ball at 9:00 a.m. 

The Hyperpole of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at 20:00 p.m. Thursday

Thursday June 9, after completing two driving sessions, 23 cars will compete for the Hyperpole of the 90th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only the five Hypercars, six LMP2s, six LMGTE Pros and six LMGTE Ams fastest the day before will be able to attempt to set the fastest lap of the circuit. In this exercise, a pilot stands out from the others for several years, Kamui Kobayashi. Nippon with its Toyota GR010 Hybrid #7 was the fastest in 3'23"900 in 2021. As a reminder, the time used for each crew is that of the fastest driver. 

The day before the start, the track will be open to the public who will be able to walk the 24 Hours of Le Mans route from 14:30 p.m. to 19:30 p.m. While at the same time, the 186 drivers entered will perform their parade sponsored by Henri Pescarolo, four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 

On Saturday, the Alpha Jets of the Patrouille de France will fly over the starting grid of the 24 Hours of Le Mans minutes before the start of the race at 16:00 p.m. Throughout the week and the weekend, numerous activities are planned around the shovel-mell event: the Karting of the 24 Hours, a Kids Zone for children aged 3 to 12, visits to the 24 Hours of Le Mans museum and also numerous concerts (Kyo, Pete Doherty, Martin Solveig…)
