The starting grid for the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The departure of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2021 is fast approaching. As the teams and crews prepare for their biggest race of the year, a small point on the grid is essential before the 61 beasts are released into the arena.

Grandes favorites de cette 89e, les GR010 de Toyota ont été intraitables lors de l’hyperpole jeudi dernier. Déjà auteur de trois poles dans la Sarthe, Kamui Kobayashi struck once again to win a 4th and thus allow the No. 7 to lead the peloton this Saturday in front of its sister, the No. 8. For his return to the premier category, Alpine signed the third time ahead of the two 007s from Glickenhaus.

If United Autosports was expected to be at the forefront, it was the JOTA No. 38 which took pole in the LMP2 category. Thanks to a very good lap, António Félix da Costa beat the No. 41 of Team WRT and the No. 65 of Panis Racing.

Partie à la faute lors de l’hyperpole, la Porsche N°92 sera bien au départ de cette 89e édition après un changement de châssis et de moteur. Le GTE Pro a lui été dominé par une autre 911 mais pas officielle. En effet, la N°72 du Hub Auto Racing a pris de court les Ferrari, Corvettes and other Porsches to take first position in the category.

In GTE Am, it was also a Porsche that stood out from the crowd. With a lap of 3'47"987, the No. 88 of Dempsey-Proton Racing took the lead over two other 911s, the No. 86 of GR Racing and the No. 56 of Team Project 1.
