When did you make this decision to develop a project in Endurance with Alpine ?
From the beginning. I was curious about our continuation in Endurance. There F1 is our central theme in which we are committed for the visible horizon, that is to say for 5 or 10 years. But this adventure of Endurance began well before the rebirth ofAlpine. It was therefore useful to think about a possible extension. Gradually, by discussing with Philippe Sinault and Signatech, by measuring the good results in terms of their resonance and the impact they could have, I realized that it was complementary with F1 and the activities of road. We had to find the economic capacity for viability. We have a profitability imperative for each business in the group, to Alpine especially. We therefore had to ensure that our investment was guaranteed by income. We came to the conclusion that it was probably a good idea to continue.
At Le Mans, however, you were undecided. What served as the trigger?

For the harmonization of the calendars you have to check with the FIA! Until now it has not often done its job, (the provisional calendar for the 2022 GP places a GP on the weekend of Le Mans) Perhaps Todt's replacement will be able to enforce that, but I doubt it, as he is for the F1 that a WEC championship with too much media coverage (and with around ten manufacturers this is clearly heading towards it) is a disaster.
