Alex Albon wins at the Dutch Virtual GP

Alex Albon (Red Bull) won the Virtual Dutch GP, the fourth round of the virtual season of the F1 contested on the Interlagos track in Brazil due to the absence of the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands in the F1 2019 video game. The Thai took the advantage at the start of the race after starting from 5th position and led a breathtaking duel against Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) during the first relay. The Asian stayed a little longer on the track before switching to the medium tires. The battle ended when the Monegasque received a 3-second penalty for exceeding the track limits.

“I was sweating after the finish line after all the adrenaline, commented the winner. My team's strategy gave me the speed I needed. Charles was very quick. Qualifying wasn't great, but I practiced on the starts. Once the gap was built, we started our duel with Charles and it was very pleasant. We adopted the best strategy. It was good to find those sensations that I was missing from race weekends. »

It's finally George Russell (Williams) who took second place ahead of Charles Leclerc. The pole sitter Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes) finished just off the podium in front of his teammate Esteban Gutiérrez. Christian Lundgaard (Renault) finished 6th ahead of Enzo Fittipaldi (Ferrari) and Louis Deletraz (Haas). Nicholas latifi (Williams) and Lando Norris (McLaren) completed the Top 10, the Briton having received a drive through for early departure.

Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) had to retire at the start of the race while he was fighting for 4th place against Nicholas Latifi (Williams).

For his debut in the F1 Esports Virtual GP Series, Petter Solberg (Renault) did well by finishing in 12th place after fighting in the Top 10.

“I really had fun, but it was really intense, confided the three-time world champion. I had just taken 6th place in the Race Legends Trophy and I was tackling an even higher level. I probably chose tires that were too hard. I was on the attack, but I had a lot of understeer in the first stint. I had trained for two days, but I will spend more time on the simulator if I have to come back. »

“I was able to test a Ferrari F1 and an LMP1, but these guys were really fast in this race, added Hollywood. I would like to be able to improve my times further. I'm starting to understand where I can be faster, but I have work to do. »

In F1 Esports Pro Exhibition, it was once again Red Bull who won with Marcel Kiefer who won in rainy conditions against Alvara Carreton (Williams) and Lucas Blakeley (Racing Point).

Arthur Leclerc distinguished himself by winning the first two virtual races of F2 contested on the Sakhir route in Bahrain.
