Amid crashes, Ehrlacher remains Esports WTCR Pre-Season leader

How to check if a video game is a real car simulation? It's easy: take the Macau circuit and watch for a monster pileup. If accidents happen, then it's realistic!

The penultimate round of the Esports WTCR Pre-Season lived up to the reputation of the Asian circuit. Several incidents took place, including dashing the virtual title hopes of Esteban Guerrieri (Honda), who was involved in an accident in Race 2.

At the front, Spaniard Mikel Azcona (Cupra) preserved his pole position advantage to win Race 1, ahead of Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co) and Néstor Girolami (Honda). “I sweated a lot, like in real life, the Navarrese laughed. I stayed focused so as not to make any mistakes, not an easy thing to do in Macau.

At one point, I felt that Yann was gaining a few tenths from me, but on the next lap I gave my maximum. Winning in Macau is special because it’s very difficult. »

En Course 2, le champion sortant de la Coupe du monde des voitures de tourisme (WTCR) Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) gardait la tête froide. “It was carnage, confided the Hungarian, trained in simracing with the game Grand Prix Legends. I saw the guys leaving in the background behind me, I was lucky… Starting from the front row is always enviable in Macau. »

The best Frenchman in this Race 2 was the Girondin Aurélien Comte (Peugeot ), fourth. In the general ranking, Yann Ehrlacher preserves his rank of leader with 9 points ahead on Norbert Michelisz and 17 units of margin on Mikel Azcona. Everything will be decided on the Sepang track, Sunday July 19 from 23 p.m. on Eurosport, and the next day at 9 a.m. on YouTube.
