The Daytona Road Course virtually hosted the launch of the EuroNASCAR Esports Series. Organized by the Nascar Whelen Euro Series (NWES) and Team FJ, the competition brought together more than 50 drivers, from teams present in NWES and partner circuits such as Hockenheim, Most or Valence.
10-minute sprint races made it possible to determine the starting grid for the main race on the iRacing PC simulation. Winners of their qualifying rounds, Alon Day and Andre Castro then faced each other in the final round.
The Team Df1 Racing driver finally won after a rough attack on his opponent from PK Carsport. “It was a magnificent race. We kept swapping heads. In turn 3 or 4, I thought I could help myself with a little contact. It was stronger than expected, probably because of the delay Castro explained to official NWES commentator Mark Werrell after the race. I expect him to pay me back soon. It was a great race. I didn't think I would stay in contact for the entire duration, bumper to bumper. I imagine it must have been great to watch too. A big thank you to Df1 Racing and the whole organization for making this happen. »
“Don’t worry, it will come back,” Day replied. “What a great fight with Andre! It's just a shame to end on a bump and run. But be sure it won't stop there. I love Brands Hatch, it’s going to be great. Andre is a real rocket on this circuit too, he is very fast but I will train as much as possible to beat him, and without bump and run, of course. »
The next meeting is actually set at Brands Hatch on Tuesday April 28. The event will be followed live on video on the EuroNASCAR channels on YouTube, Facebook and Twitch.
