Homola new leader of Esports WTCR Pre-Season

On the PC video game RaceRoom, Mato Homola was the most competitive during the first race, and finished ahead of former simracer turned 2019 WTCR champion Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai).

“I like this circuit”, indicated the 25-year-old Slovak, who took advantage of various clashes to take the lead. “I was lucky with the contacts between Esteban (Guerrieri) and Mikel (Azcona). Then, I wanted to create a nice gap on “Norbi”, but he attacked like crazy until the finish. I tried to stay calm and not make any mistakes. »

In Race 2, the advantage went to the Argentinian Néstor Girolami (Honda), with a certain similarity with the race which took place a year earlier in this same place. “The 2019 race was as incredible as this one, with lots of action.

I think we didn't have the pace to aim for pole position, so we decided to qualify around 10th place in practice (to aim for reverse grid pole. Editor's note). We had the ninth fastest time and I was afraid it would be too hard to maintain first place. But the opponents showed fair play. »

The best ranked Frenchman is once again Yann Erlacher (Lynk & Co), seventh then fourth. His uncle and teammate Yvan Muller also scored points (9th and 10th).

The next meeting is set for the Slovakia Ring on Sunday June 28 from 22 p.m. on Eurosport.

General classification after four races out of 12:

1 Mato Homola (Hyundai), 69 points

2 Esteban Guerrieri (Honda), 64

3 Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai), 61

4 Mikel Azcona (Cupra), 50

5 Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co), 50

6 Néstor Girolami (Honda), 49

7 Attila Tassi (Honda), 47

8 Bence Boldizs (Cupra), 41

9 Niels Langeveld (Audi), 38

10 Yvan muller (Lynk & Co), 24
