IndyCar iRacing Challenge – Pagenaud tactical winner in Michigan

The third round of theIndyCar iRacing Challenge allowed simon pagenaud (Penske) to stand out on the Michigan oval. The Frenchman won the event even though he started from 22nd place!

The winner of the 500 Indianapolis 2019 initially avoided a pile-up at the green flag. This “big one” had consequences on the progress of the Esport event because most of the competitors then decided to let go of the horses, without worrying about refueling.

An error because the Penske pilot, helped by his engineer Ben Bretzman and the French Race Clutch team, was able to manage his fuel where his rivals slowed down or pitted in a hurry.

“We worked hard to understand this kind of competition, explained the winner. We were just saving gas to stay out of trouble. We didn't have the right pace in qualifying. We opted for option B, which was to save gas and tires. »

The virtual podium is original because it concerns the two-time outgoing Australian Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin (Penske) and the two-time Daytona 500 winner in Nascar, Dale Earnhardt Jr. (JR Motorsports). Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi) and Oliver Askew (Arrow) McLaren SP) have given up.

The next round of the simracing championship is scheduled for April 18 on an as yet unknown circuit.
