Nick Cassidy will be signed with Envision Virgin Racing to compete the Race at Home Challenge, first virtual event of the Formula e created in partnership with Unicef in the fight against the coronavirus.
The team's rookie will take the place of the holder Sam Bird, playing alongside Robin Frijns, the Briton not being able to take part in the event for technical reasons.
“I have remained in close contact with the team after testing in Marrakech (Morocco) and am delighted to support them in a simulation race for the start of a new series, comments the reigning Super Formula champion who had set the best time in the rookie tests. Esport has evolved significantly in recent months and I have already had the chance to compete in a few races. It is a very competitive event that requires great talent to participate. It's great to return to the world of Formula e where I feel comfortable. »
Audi Sport has confirmed its starters Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi to take part in the first races.
The competition will last nine weeks with a final scheduled for June 13. The platform used will come from rFactor 2 simulation.
