Follow the debut of the F1 Virtual Grand Prix Series in Bahrain live on video
In order to replace the first rounds of the 2020 calendar of Formula 1, postponed or canceled due to the Covid-19 epidemic, sport has decided to make fans wait through Esport. F1 thus founded the Virtual Grand Prix Series.
Over the coming weeks, simracing stars and other VIPs will face real single-seater drivers. The teams present in the World Championship play the game. Thus, Mercedes dispatches Stoffel Vandoorne and Esteban Gutiérrez, present in Formula E.
On the side of Renault, the Chinese test pilot Guanyu-Zhou is associated with professional golfer Ian Poulter. Ferrari trusts the outgoing FIA champion F3, Robert Shwartzman, while the simracing enthusiast Lando Norris will pilot for McLaren.
Six-time Olympic track cycling champion (and gentleman driver) Chris Hoy will represent Red Bull with Philipp Eng, BMW driver in DTM. The newly retired F1 Nico Hulkenberg makes a nice comeback with Racing Point (virtually, at least), while senior Johnny Herbert joins Alfa Romeo ! At last, Nicholas latifi will be at Williams, like in the real world.
