The days preceding a Grand Prix weekend are often an opportunity for drivers to discover the habits of the country they are visiting. If they haven't tasted local cuisine or done activities with Australian wildlife like kangaroos or koalas, Fernando Alonso and Sergio Pérez were able to try out another tradition from the Antipodes: Supercars.

Australian touring championship and internationally recognized, the Supercars is this weekend in Melbourne as the curtain raiser of the Formula 1. While waiting for the first free practice sessions this Friday (5:00 a.m. French time), Fernando Alonso and Sergio Pérez, as part of an operation with their sponsor, were able to take the wheel of a Ford Mustang and a Holden Commodore from the said championship.

On the asphalt of Albert Park, the Spaniard climbed aboard the Mustang usually used by Thomas Randle of Tickford Racing while the Mexican drove the Commodore of Broc Feeney, resident of Triple Eight Racing.

The noise is incredible. » As for a possible participation in the championship, the Asturian, as a great enthusiast, does not seem to be closing the door. “ Who knows, there are some great races here including Bathurst, the most popular. It's not in my short term plans but you should never say never »
