It is a tragic date which resonates beyond the framework of the Formula 1. Everyone knows what he was doing on May 1, 1994, when Ayrton Senna went off the track on the seventh lap of the San Marino Grand Prix, contested in Imola (Italy). When the car hit the Tamburello wall, the upper triangle of the right front suspension broke and hit the visor of Brazil's helmet.
Treated for many minutes by FIA and circuit doctors, the driver Williams was then airlifted to the hospital in Bologna (Italy) where his death was officially announced after 18:30 p.m., as a result of irreversible brain damage.
25 years that passaram voando! Obrigado por deixar tantas boas mórias, lições e ainda viver nos nossos coracões! 25 years went by flying! Thank you for leaving so many amazing memories, lessons and still being very much alive in our hearts! #SennaDay #SennaAlways #simplythebest pic.twitter.com/XN2tyj9rsP

Above, Bruno Senna paid tribute to his uncle in 2019 by taking out a photo from the memory box.
That day, Ayrton Senna became an icon, broke the day after his 65th pole position (a record at the time). The idol of an entire nation won three world titles (1988, 1990 and 1991 with McLaren) and 41 victories between 1985 and 1993 in Formula 1. CARhebdo don't forget this exceptional champion.
