Long before Oscar Piastri, several famous F1 drivers settled their futures on the non-sporting field, in sometimes ludicrous stories.

Extra-sporting matters involving Alpine et Oscar piastri en Formula 1, as well as Alex Palou and Chip Ganassi Racing in IndyCar, are extraordinary, but are not new in F1. Here are three examples concerning renowned pilots whose desires for elsewhere have not always coincided with their contractual obligations.

1984: Senna sanctioned by Toleman

Do without the services of Ayrton Senna for a race when he rides for your team? Who would dare such madness? Alex Hawkridge, Toleman's main team, did it at the 1984 Italian Grand Prix.
