The first race of the weekend organized on the Symmons Plains circuit (Australia) offered spectacle… and twists and turns. For the 4th meeting of the season, in Tasmania, Will Brown (Erebus Motorsport – Chevrolet) won Race 1 ahead of Andre Heimgartner (Brad Jones Racing – Chevrolet) and Shane van Gisbergen (Triple Eight Race Engineering – Chevrolet).

After his victory in Race 2 in Perth at the end of April, Will Brown rode excellent momentum and claimed a second victory this season, moving up to 3rd place in the Supercars championship. A great operation… unlike his teammate, Brodie Kostecki.

The championship leader had to settle for 23rd and antepenultimate place at the finish, victim of two contacts at the start of the race: a first with Jack Le Brocq, then a second much more fatal with Cam Waters. With a broken front left steering arm, the Erebus Motorsport driver was forced to return to the pits for five laps.

In his misfortune, Brodie Kostecki was able to find a little luck since his main championship rival, Chaz Mostert, retired after contact with Broc Feeney which sent him into a spin, breaking his steering rack in the process. . A costly retirement, as the Walkinshaw Andretti United driver fell to 4th place in the championship after Race 1.
