Author of his first career pole, Will Brown (Erebus Motorsport) gave himself the right to dream of his first victory now. Well off to a good start when the lights went out, the driver of the No. 9 Holden ZB Commodore retained the lead of the race ahead of the two men from Triple Eight, Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen.
Despite the pressure, the young rookie resisted the two heavyweights and seemed to glimpse, in the distance, his first success in Supercars. Unfortunately for him, luck, like the previous week, did not smile on him.

Wanting to respond to Jamie Whincup's attempted undercut on lap 5, Will Brown dove into the pit lane a lap later. While everything seemed well aligned, the Erebus Motorsport driver once again encountered problems with one of his wheels and lost 28 seconds on his rivals, thus coming out second to last! A gift from heaven for Triple Eight who didn't ask for so much.
A nightmare for Erebus..

With Will Brown out of the race, victory was now available to Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen, provided they did not encounter the slightest problem while waiting for the checkerboard. Called back to his pit box at the end of the 12th lap of the race, SvG was uncompromising as he returned to the track. Leading while his teammate refueled, Whincup could do nothing against the championship leader who was making short work of him thanks to a set of fresher tires for 7 laps.
Alone in the world, Shane van Gisbergen quickly widened the gap with his garage neighbor and flew towards his 13th victory of the season. Jamie Whincup and Will Davison (Dick Johnson Racing) followed him on the podium while the men of Brad Jones Racing, Nick Percat and Todd Hazelwood completed the Top 5. In the championship, SvG pushed back his runner-up Jamie Whincup to 346 points.
