Bathurst 1000 – McLaughlin and DJR Team Penske on provisional pole

The atmosphere must necessarily be mixed within the DJR Team Penske after the Bathurst 1000 qualifying. On the one hand, Scott McLaughlin, supported in this Enduro Cup by Alexandre Prémat, shone on the wet track of Mount Panorama, hoisting his Ford Mustang No. 17 – DJR Team Penske in the lead before the Shoot Out reserved for the top 10 of the session.

A top 10 where his teammate Fabian Coulthard was unable to emerge, assisted by Tony d'Alberto in the No. 12 Ford Mustang, with Coulthard only finishing 16th in qualifying.

McLaughlin quickly took the lead in the session, ultimately setting a benchmark in 2’27”647, ahead of Chaz Mostert (Ford Mustang – Tickford Racing) by four tenths. Shane van Gisbergen places first Holden Commodore – Red Bull Holden Racing in third position more than 1″5 behind.

Followed by Will Davison (Ford – 23Red Racing), Tim Slade and Nick Percat (Holden – Brad Jones Racing), Jamie Whincup (Holden – Red Bull Holden Racing), back on track after his accident in free practice 5, Cameron Waters (Ford – Tickford Racing), Mark Winterbottom (Holden – Charlie Schwerkolt Racing) and Anton de Pasquale (Holden – Erebus Motorsport) last qualified for tomorrow’s Shoot Out which will determine the pole sitter for this 2019 edition of Bathurst 1000.
