Bathurst 1000 – Reynolds on pole by a whisker ahead of Whincup

The top 10 Shootout was suspenseful until the very last minute in Bathurst (Australia). The final phase of qualifying for the flagship Supercars event allowed David Reynolds (Holden) to take pole position, nine thousandths ahead of Jamie Whincup (Holden).

“I gave everything I had!” Our car is super fast. I just want to win again on Sunday”, enthuses the pole sitter.

The outgoing winner of the Bathurst 1000 Km made the difference in the Mont Panorama sector. At the top of the hill, the 33-year-old Australian was more than three tenths ahead. Even if the gap narrowed in the final section at the bottom of the mountain, David Reynolds was able to preserve a small margin.

The Erebus Motorsport team is ideally placed for the race. In addition to David Reynolds, Anton de Pasquale will start third in what is only his first appearance at Bathurst“This result is great for the team, it’s only the last corner that I missed a little but overall it’s the best lap I’ve done on this track”, explained the rookie.

The turn of Scott McLaughlin (Ford) allows his partner Alexandre Prémat to start from fifth place as the first representative of the American manufacturer.
