DTM-C1: The BMW 7 Series

With a quadruple in qualifying, the BMW M4 were in a strong position before tackling the first race of the DTM German on the Dutch route of Zandvoort. And the final result undoubtedly exceeded the expectations of the Munich firm

Augusto Farfus (BMW), who started from pole, nevertheless quickly gave in from the start to his teammates Marco Wittmann and António Félix da Costa. If the Safety-Car was quickly deployed following an incident involving Paul di Resta in particular (Mercedes), Wittmann and da Costa will quickly break away at the restart, taking off from Maxime Martin (BMW).

The top three will not change, despite repeated attempts by da Costa who will not find an opening on the outgoing champion who finally pockets his first success of the year. Augusto Farfus retained fourth place after facing Gary Paffett (Mercedes? ART Grand Prix), the latter veering wide at turn 7 which put an end to his hopes.

The championship leader Jamie Green (Audi) was forced to retire after going off the track, also causing the introduction of a slow zone. The second race will take place tomorrow, Sunday.
