Ford presents its future Mustang GT3

Great evening in Detroit where Ford organized the launch event for its new production Mustang. The American giant also took the opportunity to talk about motorsport with the publication of the first photos of its future Mustang GT3.

In a video of just under two minutes, Ford presented 6 versions of the Mustang, all dedicated to motorsport, including the GT3 but also the GT4, the NASCAR, track day, NHRA or even that of the new era of Australian Supercars. The Detroit manufacturer also created a surprise by presenting the Dark Horse Mustang, available as a production or track model in the Dark Horse S and Dark Horse R versions.

Long-awaited, the new generation of the racing Ford Mustang will make its debut in 2023. If the GT3 will only appear at the 24 2024 Hours of Daytona in the GTD Pro category in association with Multimatic, that of the Australian Supercars will make its debut there next year, marking the start of the new generation.

About the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this future Ford Mustang GT3 is likely to be seen there in the future. However, its commitment to Sarthe will not concern the manufacturer itself because entries in GT3, planned from 2024, will be private after the decision of the WEC to put an end to the GTE Pro category.

“With the new Mustang, we are returning to competition and that is the role of this new model, said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports. With testing of our various race cars underway, we are confident that we have the right car to win.”

Ford returns to GT3 class competition with an all-new Mustang GT3 race car IMSA which will also be available to customers, starting at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2024. Created by Ford Performance and Multimatic, the Ford Mustang GT3 powered by the 8 liter V5.0 engine.

A new Mustang GT4 available to customers will also debut during the 2023 season.
