Jamie Whincup future Team Principal of Triple Eight Race Engineering

A page will be turned in the history of Triple Eight Engineering at the end of the 2021 campaign supercars Australian.

The training, supported by Red Bull, will first see its star pilot Jamie Whincup, seven times champion of the discipline, leave the seats full-time, without excluding himself from being present in the endurance events in 2022, while becoming Team Principal and Manager replacing Roland Dane.

The historic boss will indeed take a step back with the pit wall but will remain involved in the team as chairman of the board of directors, and will retain his shareholding. The Dane family will also still be represented by Jessica, Roland's daughter, whose participation in the team will increase to 30%. Jamie Whincup will own 19% of the structure.

Triple Eight Engineering will also welcome a new majority shareholder in the person of businessman Tony Quinn, who will acquire 40% of the team.

“I have always said that after retiring from a full-time program I wanted to continue racing and in 2018 I committed to doing so with Triple Eight by becoming a shareholder. I am honored that Roland trusts me to lead the family he has built here in Australia.

I will maximize every opportunity to learn from him and I am grateful that he will still dedicate some of his time in 2022 to ensure we have the best chance of success.

I have to thank everyone who supported me during my racing career: family, friends, fans and partners. I will give everything to ensure we achieve the best possible results in 2021.”

Remember that Triple Eight Engineering operates the Holden Commodore in the championship, the brand having already announced the upcoming end of his involvement in the series.
