DJR Team Penske prepares its future Mustangs

It is in the Stapylton offices in Queensland that DJR Team Penske is actively working on the development of its future Ford Mustang. The famous galloping horse mount will replace the Falcon FG X from 2019 in Supercars.

The chassis called DJRTP 02 used for tire and aero tests last year will be common to the other models in the series, but the American team must concentrate its efforts on inserting elements specific to the car which will allow it to be identified. . The work on the bodywork is carried out jointly with Ford Performance in the USA.

“We started preparing the car last week, confirmed Ryan Story, director of management of DJR Team Penske, on the official Supercars website. The goal is to have the car approved so that it can be used next year. We will build a new car and transform one of the two current ones (Falcon FG X). There was no point in building two new ones and we don't see why we should do anything differently. »

Runner-up Scott McLaughlin will have the benefit of the new mount in 2019 after Fabian Coulthard received a new chassis this year.

Tickford Racing, which also defends the interests of the manufacturer at the Blue Oval, will field two Mustangs as well as two former Falcon FG next year.
