No matter the weather, Shane van Gisbergen (Holden) is the strong man at the start of the 2021 Australian Supercars season. The New Zealand driver won his fifth victory in as many races this Sunday, March 21, at the start of the year. An unprecedented feat since 1994.
The Triple Eight driver, who had overcome a broken collarbone and a disappointing 17th place in testing the day before, this time played through the rain at Sandown. Around the horse racing enclosure, the 31-year-old driver led the proceedings from the first turn.

Shane van Gisbergen was not going to be worried. Debutant Brodie Kostecki (Holden) was already very happy to finish second in only his fifth Supercars event.
As for David Reynolds (Ford), he scored a podium on the occasion of his 350th start in the discipline. Jamie Whincup (Holden) finished just off the podium. Second in the general classification before this meeting, Chaz Mostert (Holden) retired due to a broken accelerator cable.
