Scott McLaughlin on pole for first race in Sydney

With a new track record of Sydney in Australia, Scott McLaughlin (DJR Team Penske – Ford) took pole position for the first race of the weekend, which will be contested at night in the coming hours.

The reigning champion achieved a benchmark time of 1'27″742 to beat one of his best enemies by 0″275, his fellow New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen (Red Bull Holden Racing – Holden).

Cameron Waters places the first Ford Mustang of Tickford Racing on the second row after failing more than three tenths behind McLaughlin and will start alongside Jamie Whincup (Red Bull Holden Racing).

The third row will be shared between Lee Holdsworth (Tickford Racing) and Fabian Coulthard (DJR Team Penske).
