Supercars – Alexandre Prémat joins DJR Team Penske in Enduro Cup

As we already indicated this in our columns last week (see Ah n°2098), Alexandre Prémat will return to the Enduro Cup in Supercars in 2017, and will therefore compete in the Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 600 events.

Engaged within the Red Bull Holden Racing Team last year, the Frenchman will join the DJR Team Penske clan in 2017 and will be the teammate of the team's flagship rookie, the New Zealander Scott McLaughlin.

The two men, who will drive the No. 17 Ford Falcon, know each other well having played under the colors of Garry Rogers Motorsport between 2013 and 2015 on Holden Commodore then Volvo S60.

“Scott and I built a close friendship when we were teammates, and we enjoy working together, I'm sure it will be a very strong partnership, explains Alexandre Prémat.

A lot of people doubted my abilities when I returned to Supercars last year, and I was able to prove them wrong with the performances in the three endurance races.

This year, with the Shell V-Power Racing Team, I will try to defend my Pirtek Enduro Cup title (won last year with Shane van Gisbergen, Editor’s note) and thus bring a little more laurels home. »

Prémat's arrival at DJR Team Penske will push Tony d'Alberto onto the team's second #12 Ford Falcon, alongside Fabian Coulthard. For the record, Roger Penske's team also records the arrival in its technical team of Frenchman Ludovic Lacroix, former technical director of the Red Bull Holden Racing Team until the end of the 2016 season.
