Supercars – Nissan extends for two years

Nissan Motorsport will remain present in Supercars for the next two years. The Japanese manufacturer has confirmed its extension in the Australian discipline until 2018 with four Altima still entered.

Michael Caruso will continue to drive the No. 23 with which he is currently in ninth place in the Championship.

“Motorsport is in Nissan’s DNA, in Australia and around the world. Nissan has been involved in the competition since it moved to Australia in 1966”, commented Nissan Motor Co. Australia managing director Richard Emery.

Nissan also confirmed the entry of two GT-R Nismo GT3s in the 12 Bathurst 2017 Hours held on February 5 without revealing its crews. The Japanese brand won the event in 2015 with Florian Strauss, Katsumasa Chiyo and Wolfgang Reip.

“The Supercars Championship is one of the most important sporting events in Australia and Nissan benefits from the public support in the discipline, added Michael Carcamo, director of Nissan Global Motorsports. Our efforts at the Bathurst 12 Hour tied the Mount Panorama with the GT-R. We will now push our commitment even further. »
