Supercars – Simona de Silverstro satisfied with her race in Adelaide

Simona de Silvestro was not strictly speaking a rookie in Supercars, having already competed in the Bathurst 1000 meeting in 2015 and 2016. But the first race of the Clipsal 500, contested this morning in Adelaide in Australia, constituted the first event of the program full-time in the Nissan Motorsport resident's series.

Qualified 24th, former driver Amlin Andretti in Formula e finished in 20th place, in the same lap as the winner Shane van Gisbergen (Red Bull Holden Racing Team Australia – Holden Commodore) by avoiding the pitfalls of the traditionally lively championship games, and by managing the weather conditions well.

“There were no problems with the heat, comments Simona de Silvestro. Everyone had told me so many things about it...but it was fine once you get into the race and into your rhythm.

It was pretty cool at the start of the race because we were in a pack and we were fighting a little bit, so it was really good and I enjoyed it. I think the pace can be a little better, but the car was really good. I think that for a first, we will take this result. »

Simona de Silvestro has already identified some areas for improvement, which can be implemented from the second round scheduled for tomorrow in Australia. “We finished and learned a lot during the race. I made a few mistakes in the pits, but we will be better tomorrow. »
