Hyundai remains faithful to the TCR. Crowned in 2022 in the now defunct WTCR championship, the Korean brand will continue the adventure with an entry in the new championship, the TCR World Tour. Two Hyundai Elantra N TCRs will be registered to participate in this international competition, which will begin from April 28 to 30 in Portimão (Portugal).

Hyundai is thus continuing a glorious adventure in the TCR categories. During the five years of competition in WTCR, the firm won a total of 30 races, three drivers' titles and two teams' titles, with drivers such as Mikel Azcona, Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz.

“The customer racing department and the TCR program are very important parts of Hyundai Motorsport, highlighted Cyril Abiteboul, director of the Hyundai Motorsport team. Just like the start of our work on the i30 N TCR in 2016, and then the development of the Elantra N TCR, the arrival of the TCR World Tour brings another new challenge. We embrace this new era with the experience and expertise gained from years of success in WTCR. »

The identity of the two drivers has not yet been revealed, with Hyundai specifying that additional information is to come before the start of the 2023 season. Currently, ten cars are entered for the TCR World Tour : four Lynk & Co and four Audi via the Comtoyou Racing team.
