Triple Eight will move to the Chevrolet Camaro in 2022

We knew that General Motors had the ambition to stop Holden's activities in Australia and New Zealand, an announcement which had necessarily put on hold the presence of the brand in the Supercars championship, where the Commodores have been shining for many years with Triple Eight Engineering.

2022 will therefore see GM launch its Chevrolet brand against Ford in the Antipodes series, with the arrival of the Camaro Gen 3 developed and operated mainly by the training of Roland Dane, who until then operated under the official Holden banner.

The Camaro appears to be a logical choice for GM which already aligns its Camaro in Nascar Series.

A car which can be acquired by other structures to compete in the series, either directly from Triple Eight, or by developing their own model after having accessed “to the intellectual property of the model” via the championship.

“Personally, I have had a long relationship with General Motors, dating back to the 1990s in the British Touring Car Championship, so I am happy to be able to continue that, comments Roland Dane.

We are very pleased that GM has entrusted us with the development of the Gen3 Camaro for this exciting new era of Supercar racing. The Camaro is fantastic as a road car and there is no doubt that it will be a spectacular and aggressive race car. Preparations for the introduction of Gen3 regulations are well underway. »

Before then, Triple Eight will continue in 2021 with the Holden Commodore, and will aim for another victory at Bathurst 1000 this weekend.
