Jamie Whincup built on his victory in qualifying by securing pole ahead of teammate Shane van Gisbergen. The order will remain unchanged in the race once the New Zealander found an opening on Tim Slade after giving up his position at the start.
The seven-time champion finally won with an 11-second lead, securing his 4th success this season, but it was Shane van Gisbergen who performed the best operation as he took control of the Championship with a 19-point lead. on Scott McLaughlin (Ford) who only managed to secure 10th place, his position on the grid.
The Holden Commodore monopolized the first 6 places. Tim Slade fell short of the podium behind David Reynolds, while Nick Percat and Scott Pye completed the line-up. Will Davison took the first Ford Falcon to 7th place.
