Pau, F4 – Race 2: Andriolo takes his first victory

After an eventful first race won in the morning by the Australian Hugh Barter, race 2 contested on a reverse grid smiled on the young Romain Andriolo, who is competing in his first full season in Formula 4 after taking part in two rounds in 2021. Starting from pole position, the Frenchman started perfectly while keeping behind him the very young German Max Reis. 

Pierre-Alexandre Provost, author of a nice start to the season, was not far from signing his second podium of the year. He actually fought throughout the race with a very offensive Eliott Vayron. The two men attacked each other several times. A first time between the station and Oscar in the second lap, then another five minutes from the end in the start-finish straight, each time with good defenses from Provost. 

Then one last time at the school, on the last lap, where the two men neutralized each other in the barriers, taking with them four other drivers who were arriving behind! It was ultimately Dario Cabanelas who took advantage of the offering and climbed onto the podium, ahead of AUTOhebdo rookie Alessandro Giusti, 4th, and championship leader Hugh Barter 5th. 

The Australian also had an eventful race despite his top 5. As earlier in race 1, Barter had to defend hard against Souta Arao, the Japanese who flies on this Pau circuit. Arao actually dove twice on the Australian in high school, hitting the car No. 68. The Nippon was punished for his excessive aggressiveness since he came out with damage to the front, which caused him to fall in the rankings. Accidented in Race 1, the Japanese Nomura was unable to compete in Race 2.
