Bianchi sets sail again

Jules Bianchi has rock-solid morale. If many see in Lucien Bianchi's great-nephew a future French pilot of Formula 1, the young man is first of all set on his 2009 objective: winning the title of champion in the Formula 3 Euro Series. After having experienced a difficult weekend at Brand Hatch (exit from the track in qualifying, violent accident in the race), the Brignolais got back on track perfectly, without showing any apprehension. Winner of the two Portimao races in F3 British last weekend, Jules Bianchi won his third race in less than a week this Saturday, in Barcelona.

Starting from pole position, the leader of the F3 Euro Series general classification managed to keep his advantage throughout the race over the two “rookies”, Alexander Sims and Andrea Caldarelli. By winning after taking pole, the Frenchman pocketed eleven points, compared to only three for his most serious rival, Christian Vietoris, sixth in the race.

« This race was not easy, recognized the winner at the foot of the podium. I didn't get off to a good start, but I was able to keep my nose in front. During the race, I had no room for error, because Alex Sims was right behind me. This victory is particularly beneficial after the bad weekend at Brands Hatch. »

At the top of the general classification, Jules Bianchi flies away again, now 24 points ahead of the German. With five races to go before the end of the season, the Frenchman is well on his way to winning a title which would make him succeed Romain Grosjean et Nico Hulkenberg. The first is in Formula 1, the second is GP2 Series champion. And, if everything goes ideally for the Frenchman, he could be crowned on French soil, in Dijon-Prenois, for the French round of the F3 Euro Series.
