Bianchi wins and escapes

Jules Bianchi, if he experiences a happy ending at the end of the season, will be able to see this Zandvoort weekend as one of the turning points of the season. Formula 3 Euro Series. Leader of the classification heading into the Dutch weekend, the Frenchman leaves with a greater lead over his pursuers, Christian Vietoris and Jean-Karl Vernay. From the start of the race, Bianchi showed all his desire to grab places, thanks to a car faster. Although placed in eighth place on the grid, the Frenchman moved into fourth position at the end of the first lap. He quickly got the better of Jake Rozenzweig while Sam Bird, who started from pole, kept the lead.

If the gap widens behind him, Jules Bianchi keeps in touch and reaches second place at the expense of Henkie Waldschmidt. Lap after lap, the Frenchman reduced the margin that separates him from Sam Bird, to be less than a second after thirteen laps. Under pressure, Sam Bird saw the ART Grand Prix driver getting closer at each turn and could not resist the Frenchman for long, who took the lead on the 22nd lap. Jules Bianchi thus won the six points of the second race at Zandvoort, finishing in first position ahead of Sam Bird, Jake Rosenzweig, Christian Vietoris, Jean-Karl Vernay and Valtteri Bottas.

At the end of the race, Jules Bianchi was obviously very happy with this outcome: “ It was a fantastic race. My car was great this weekend, performing better than ever before. I am happy to now have a comfortable lead in the general classification, but nothing has been decided yet and we must continue to work. »
