However, he managed to move up to 12th position, then coming up against Tiago Geronimi. “ The objective was to get back into the top eight in the first race, confirms Bianchi. I tried to pass Geronimi outside Paddock Hill Bend. It looked good at first but he took me to the outside and I had no other option than to go on the dirt. It ended in a big accident and I was a little dizzy when I got out of the car. » The accident between the two men even pushed the organizers to interrupt the race, only to have it resume three hours later.

During the second race, Sunday, Jules Bianchi had neither the hope of scoring points, nor even that of finishing the race, due to the accident and the shock of the day before. “ My neck hurt and I only did a few laps to check that the car was healthy before the trip to Portimao because there was no point in taking risks while weakened. »
