Bianchi winner, ART champion

Jules Bianchi, who once again started from pole position this season, scored a ninth victory in the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2009, when he secured the championship title since the Dijon-Prenois race at the start of the month. Having led the race from start to finish, the Frenchman won ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas. With this double, the two men allowed their team, ART Grand Prix, to be crowned in the teams' championship.

« This race was not easy, commented Jules Bianchi at the foot of the podium. I didn't get off to a very good start, but I was still able to take the lead in the race. Then, I tried to widen the gap separating me from my pursuers. At the beginning, I was able to enjoy the fight between Valtteri (Bottas) and Roberto (Mehri). »

For his part, Valtteri Bottas, who has still not won a single race this season but has accumulated second places, almost secured the award for best rookie of the season, seeing Alexander Sims finish in sixth place. “ I think I was faster than Roberto (Merhi), declared the Finn after the race. But I didn't want to take too many risks to overtake him, because I need every point. My goal is indeed the rookie title. If Alex Sims were to win tomorrow, two points will be enough for me. »

Third on the podium after a great race, Jean-Karl Vernay found a smile and the honors of the post-race ceremony, something that had not happened to him for several months. “ I finally find myself on the podium again, after having bad luck, having been involved in accidents or slowed down by penalties during the last events. I gained two positions from the start. Against Roberto (Merhi), it wasn't easy, but I was finally able to win. Tomorrow I want to cross the line in front of Mika Mäki and Roberto Merhi, because my goal is to finish the year in the top five. »
