Regrets for Vernay

Jean-Karl Vernay came very close to the feat. The Frenchman, making his debut on the difficult Macau track, almost won the Grand Prix the day after his victory in the qualifying race. F3 of the former Portuguese province. In the lead during a large part of the race, the native of Villeurbanne had to give in to the attacks of Edoardo Mortara, more experienced. But, for the former pilot Red Bull, it was not lack of experience that caused him to lose victory, but a driving error.

« I made a small mistake by engaging the wrong gear at the exit of the Melco hairpin, confides the driver of the Berruyère stable. It cost me the victory. Second is of course an excellent result, but when you lead for 12 of the 15 laps, you naturally want to win. But I'm happy that Signature, my team, finished here with a nice double. »

For his part, his teammate Edoardo Mortara was obviously delighted. Second last year, the Franco-Italian was able to take victory and add his name to the list of winners of the legendary Grand Prix. “ It?s fantastic, I don?t know what to say. I am so happy to have won this Grand Prix after a really difficult season in GP2. It was not easy to beat Jean Karl this weekend, because he was really very strong. »
