He is simply unstoppable. This Sunday on the Barcelona circuit, Victor Martins signed his 7th pole position of the season in Formula Renault ahead of Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport, +0 »3) and Paul Aron (ART Grand Prix, +0 »3). Since the Nürburgring round in early September, the Frenchman has claimed six of the eight poles at stake, conceding only two to his title rival Caio Collet (R-ace GP).
The Brazilian driver is also the big loser of this second qualifying session of the weekend. In a championship where it is difficult to overtake in the dry, he will start this Sunday afternoon from 4th position.
He will have to succeed in a few maneuvers to avoid conceding too many championship points to Victor Martins, who intends to make the break while the two men have been neutralizing each other for several weeks by almost systematically monopolizing the first two places.
In difficulty on Saturday, the local of the stage David Vidales (JD Motorsport) managed to grab the Top 5. The disappointment, however, was great for Hadrien David (MP Motorsport), only 14th after having signed his first top 5 the day before. His compatriot Reshad de Gerus (Arden) finished 16th.
