Here we go for the second season of F1 Academy ! After the coronation of the Spaniard Marta Garcia in 2023, the Formula 4 championship reserved for women returns this week, from March 7 to 9, for the first Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia.
The category will rediscover the Jeddah route between the running of the F1 and F2, after a stint during pre-season testing. Last year, for the inaugural season, the first round took place at Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Doriane Pin big favorite
Titled in 2023, Marta Garcia flew to FRECA, just like her runner-up Léna Bühler. From last year's podium, only Hamda Al Qubaisi will be there and will try to climb to the top step. But it looks complicated with the arrival in the category of Frenchwoman Doriane Pin. The member of the Mercedes young driver sector who will ride at Prema, is considered the ultra-favorite.
Her main rival for the title should probably be Maya Weug. The 19-year-old Dutchwoman, member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, will also race for Prema and beat Doriane in the final of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars program in October 2020.
Also note that Lola Lovinfosse, the other Habs in the championship, is competing in her second season with Rodin Motorsport, after his tenth place overall last year with Campos.
Ten drivers in F1 team colors
For its second season, the F1 Academy is innovating. Ten of the fifteen drivers entered will wear the colors of a Formula 1 team. Dorian Pin will ride in a Silver Arrow, mostly black, and with a green line.
Having previously revealed the livery for pre-season testing, Mercedes presented the one that Doriane Pin will use in F1 Academy this year.https://t.co/ffbRBVYx2u

The series will also benefit from a media boost since all the races (Jeddah, Miami, Barcelona, Zandvoort, Singapore, Losail and Yas Marina) will take place in support of the premier category, which was only the case for one time in 2023 for the final in Austin (Texas). The F1 Academy will be visible on Canal + channels.
