Aron winner of the 77th Pau Grand Prix after a truncated race

Ralph Aron (Prema Theodore Racing) puts its name in the rich history of the Grand Prix de Pau. The Estonian became the first Estonian to win the Pau event on Sunday afternoon in its 77th edition.

Starting in third position, Ralf Aron managed to take the lead during the first hectometers. Sacha fenestraz (Carlin), winner of Race 2, was the only competitor to start on slick tires while the rain was falling heavily and made a trip to the pits to change tires. This explains his final 20th place.

The event was interrupted after the accident involving Ferdinand Habsburg (Carlin) and Marcus Armstrong (Prema Theodore Racing). As the weather conditions remained deplorable, the race management took the opportunity to wave the red flag. Only half of the points are awarded because the race did not exceed the 75% planned distance mark.

Alex Palou (Hitech GP, second on the grid), stalled before being penalized with a drive-through for a bad location on the line. These incidents benefited Enaam Ahmed (Hitech GP) and Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) who climbed onto the podium.
