Bianchi one point away from the title

Jules Bianchi wants to end his season in style, on French soil. For the only French round of the Formula 3 Euro Series, the Brignolais had the opportunity to win the championship in front of the French public. He had already had the opportunity on Saturday, during the first race. It was enough for Mauro Bianchi's grandson to finish the race in front of Christian Vietori. Starting from pole, the Frenchman thought he had done the hardest part. But, after a restart following an exit from Renger van der Zande, Christian Vietoris was able to take the lead of the race and never let go.

« It?s never nice to start from pole and finish second, commented Jules Bianchi after the class. We weren?t fast enough today and I don?t know where that came from. I also made a mistake during the restart: I accelerated too early and therefore had to release the pedal, which allowed Christian to overtake me. » This victory for the German therefore prolonged the relative suspense of this end of the season, since the Frenchman still has to wait to celebrate his title.

At 10:30 a.m. this Sunday, at the start of the second race, the ART Grand Prix driver will still be in a position to add the final touch to this superb season. If Christian Vietoris, who will start eighth, wins, the Frenchman will then have to score, at least, the point of sixth place. If the German does not win, Jules Bianchi will be champion. The mission is therefore far from insurmountable for Bianchi on the Burgundian route. But, disappointed at not having been able to win his seventh victory in the Saturday race, Nicolas Todt's colt will be keen to shine for the second race in Dijon.

Author of tests in GP2 this week, in Jerez, the Frenchman wants to display all his panache and his talent, before concluding the season at Hockenheim (October 25) and turning to the GP2 Series. In the meantime, Jules Bianchi's mission is to win the title in F3 Euro Series, in order to succeed Nico Hulkenberg, his predecessor in the ART Grand Prix seat, and before thinking of succeeding him in the GP2 Series.
