Bianchi: “Zandvoort was special”

Jules Bianchi has accustomed his supporters to seeing him climb to the top of the podium. With the good results accumulating, the Frenchman feels the greater pressure from those around him regarding repeated victories. Winner of the two races at Zandvoort, Jules Bianchi recognizes that this Dutch weekend was fabulous but that such a performance cannot be repeated at each round of Formula 3 Euro Series. “Everyone wanted me to make a podium today but it was difficult,” admitted the driver on RMC. I am reminded of Zandvoort every time (Bianchi won the first race there, then the second, starting from eighth place, editor's note). Zandvoort was special. Despite the speed we had, I was very lucky, especially at the first corner. Taken together, it was a victory for me. To get on the podium, you have to have a perfect race. Today, she was not. »

However, the Frenchman can congratulate himself on a fifth place which gives him two points which will perhaps make the difference at the end of the season. But the Niçois would have liked to do better, if the start of the race had not penalized him. “I got off to a very good start but got caught in the first corner and came out quite far. I was fourth but Jean-Karl Vernay touched Sam Bird, that sidelined me and I had to go onto the grass, where I lost a lot of time. Then fortunately I was able to get back to fifth position. That's good, that's still two good points for the championship. »

Still leader of the F3 Euro Series championship, the Frenchman is in the lead thanks to his thirteen points obtained this weekend. With 25 points ahead of his runner-up and four rounds to go, he is the favorite to succeed Nico Hulkenberg, champion in 2008. After six rounds and twelve races contested, Jules Bianchi won six races, including five on Saturday, during the event with the most points.
