Billy Monger at the Pau Grand Prix with Carlin

Billy Monger has formalized his program for 2019. The 19-year-old Englishman will compete on behalf of Carlin in the Euroformula Open championship, the competition which will serve as an award for the 78th Grand Prix de Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) on May 19. It will even be the first participation of the native of Charlwood (Surrey) in a race in an urban environment.

The former Spanish Championship Formula 3 will see the real-life debut of Billy Monger aboard an F3 car. The teenager competed in British F3 in 2018 on a Formula 4 chassis, finishing sixth and winning.

Billy Monger made headlines over the 2017 Easter weekend when a horrific British F4 crash crushed his legs at Donington Park. Since then, the Briton has used an adapted control system.
