Bortolotti wins in Brno

The beginnings of this spectacular race Formula 2 grow on contact. On the starting grid, the cars set off without problem before the peloton tightened as they approached the first corner and contact was inevitable. From the first lap, it was Wickens - championship leader -, Hohenthal, Clarke and Surtees who made mistakes. The Canadian Robert Wickens, happy not to give up, then led a recovery race, to try to get back into the points starting from the end of the peloton.

While the Brno track is gradually drying out, the cars are still lacking grip when exiting the corners. This is how Gandolfi goes into the gravel, Vasiliauskas hits the pitlane wall and Hegewald goes into the grass. Iaconelli imitated them and eliminated himself from the race, even though he was fourth. An abandonment which made several happy, including Julien Jousse, who moved up to fifth position.

At the front, Bortolotti leads by a wide margin, while Eng must preserve his 3rd place against Karjalainen. Piscopo overtakes Gladdis before catching up with Ebrahim, who nevertheless manages to maintain his sixth place. Behind, Robert Wickens does not succeed in his bet and remains on the verge of points (9th). As a result, Mirko Bortolotti takes the lead in the championship thanks to ten points from victory.
