Caio Collet, the rising hope of Auriverde

Driving through the streets of your city for a first run behind the wheel of a F1, That's not common…

I still did a few laps at Paul-Ricard to prepare, but it was nonetheless very special. It was part of a big event organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the death of Ayrton Senna and it was a great honor to participate. Plus, for the record, it was really close to my house.

You are now based in Europe. Do you often cross the Atlantic?

It's not worth coming for a few days. If I don't have any racing activities or tests scheduled for several weeks, I come back to spend time with family and see friends. I live alone in Europe and it feels good to find the family atmosphere again.

We present you as the future Brazilian F1 star. Isn't that a bit heavy to carry?

Above all, it’s very premature! I keep my feet on the ground because I know that the road is still very long. I play in Eurocup Formula Renault and there are still quite a few steps to climb.

However, are you starting to feel the expectation of the Brazilian fans?

I would talk more about support than waiting. I appreciated the welcome received during the event in Sao Paulo. As soon as I got out of the car, there was all this applause, all this sympathy.

Was it important to be there this weekend?

Very important because I was able to experience the entire Grand Prix in total immersion. I learned a lot and I appreciate even more how lucky I am to be part of the Renault Academy. I have all the assets in hand, it's up to me to do the job.

What will the work be like next year?

Continue in the Eurocup to get the title.
