FIA F3 World Cup – António Félix da Costa triumphs

Winner in 2012, António Félix da Costa had a chance to join the Swede Felix Rosenqvist or the Italian Edoardo Mortara, winners of the event twice, on the Macau Grand Prix list. F3.

Despite his pole after his success in the qualifying race, the Portuguese from Carlin will not be the first to interfere in the Lisboa corner, the traditional justice of the peace of the first round. Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing) got the best start, but it was Sérgio Sette Câmara (Carlin) who took control of the race by taking the best line at the Mandarin curve before consolidating his position under braking from Lisbon.

Behind the Brazilian, António Félix da Costa follows in second position ahead of Kenta Yamashita (Threebond with T-Sport), Felix Rosenqvist (SJM Theodore Racing by Prema) and Callum Ilott.

Rosenqvist will take third place against Yamashita, followed immediately by Ilott when, in the 4th lap of the event, Nikita mazepin makes a mistake in the wall, causing the safety car to come into action.

When the race resumed, António Félix da Costa took advantage of Sérgio Sette Câmara's slipstream after the Mandarin corner to take the advantage over the Brazilian and return to the front. The incident involving Nick Cassidy on the 10th lap caused a new neutralization, endangering the leadership of Félix da Costa, under the threat of Sette Câmara on the restart.

However, the Portuguese largely retains the lead of the event at the start of the Safety-Car over the driver of Red Bull Junior Team, which on the other hand will give in to the attack of Felix Rosenqvist in the penultimate lap under braking from Lisboa.

The leading trio will no longer evolve and António Félix da Costa pockets his second Macau Grand Prix, and becomes the first winner of the FIA F3 World Cup. It also allows Carlin to return to success (the last in 2012 with the Portuguese) and Volkswagen, engine manufacturer of the British team's single-seaters, to put an end to three years of domination of the blocks Mercedes.

Kenta Yamashita finished 4th ahead of Callum Ilott and Jake Hughes (Carlin). George Russell (Hitech GP) follows in seventh position and precedes his teammate Dani Juncadella, Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Alexander Sims (Double R Racing). Anthoine Hubert (Van Amersfoort Racing), who started from the back of the grid after his retirement in the qualifying race, finished in 13th place.
