FIA F3 World Cup – Ticktum double winner of the Macau GP, Fenestraz 3rd

Daniel Ticktum (Motopark) refueled in Macau as part of the 65th Grand Prix. The Briton, defending champion of the FIA World Cup F3, not only won the qualifying race on Saturday, but also the Main Race the next day!

By leading the event from start to finish, the pilot's feat Red Bull Junior Team should have been by far the event of the day. Except that one accident cast a chill over the paddock for the rest of the afternoon at the start of the fourth lap.

This accident involved Sophia Florsch (Van Amersfoort Racing), which took off against the Japanese Sao Tsuboi (TOM'S). Tearing down the fence in its path, the car of the German then violently hit a photographers' hut before falling back on the other side of the barriers.

Five people were taken to hospital: the two pilots, two photographers and a commissioner. All of these individuals were conscious when transferred by ambulance. The red flag was raised for more than an hour to repair the damage at the Lisboa bend.

The event was restarted for 11 additional laps. But apart froma poor performance by Callum Ilott (Carlin, started 3rd and finished 8th), few movements are worth noting. Satisfaction in the French clan, however, reigns since Sacha Fenestraz (Carlin) finished on the third step of the podium for his second attempt in Macau.

Joel Eriksson (Motopark) finished second after overtaking Sacha Fenestraz during the restart. Mick Schumacher (Prema) will not have had a considerable impact on this edition and leaves Macau in 5th place while he started 6th.
