FIA F3 World Cup – Ticktum wins the Qualifying Race

Daniel Ticktum (Motopark) demonstrated this Saturday in Macau that it was not the title holder by pure chance. The Briton, author of pole position the day before, dominated the qualifying race on Saturday morning to win with more than a second and a half ahead of Joel Eriksson (Motopark).

The pilot Red Bull Junior Team led almost all of the 10 laps apart from the first loop, where Callum Ilott (Carlin) had the best momentum. The latter then lost his second place during an extremely tight maneuver on the fifth lap.

Joel Eriksson had indeed decided to go through a mouse hole despite the defense of Callum Ilott. The Swede finished second thanks to this overtake. Qualified in third place, Sacha fenestraz (Carlin) preferred to make the move and took fourth place of the day.

Mick Schumacher (Prema) ranks sixth, gaining three positions. But the most efficient lift of the day goes to Jüri Vips (Motopark); author of a modest 14th time, the Estonian moved up to seventh place!

Several crashes punctuated the event, including that of Guanyu-Zhou (Prema) in the mountainous section on the very last lap. The Chinese thus ruined his weekend while he was riding in fifth place!

Finally, it was not an accident that caused the Safety Car to burst in mid-event, but a stray dog. Macau remains full of surprises!
