Esteban Ocon on track during the Race of Champions

France will be represented at the 2014 Race of Champions Nations' Cup (December 13 and 14 in Barbados) by a duo of single-seater drivers. If Romain Grosjean, who remains the last winner of the RoC in 2012, had already confirmed his presence, the Lotus driver will be supported by the very recent European champion of F3, Esteban Ocon, 18 years old.

“When I was younger, I came to the Stade de France so it’s a bit of a dream come true and I’m really looking forward to seeing how everything works,
indicates the native of Evreux in Normandy on the official website of the event. I like short tracks with lots of turns, and this should be nice. The main challenge will be driving a fairly heavy car with a roof because I've never tested such before. I don't even have a driving license! But that shouldn't be a problem, I'll adapt quickly and then we'll see where I stand compared to the best. It won't be easy, but several rookies have already won (Sébastien Ogier, or even Heikki Kovalainen, Editor’s note). I will have to learn as quickly as possible. »

Esteban Ocon will have had little respite since his coronation in F3, with two tests in the process F1 for Lotus, then Ferrari. The Frenchman will be on track this weekend at the F3 Macau Grand Prix before the Race of Champions to conclude his superb 2014 season.
