Caio Collet (R-Ace GP) has not said his last word in the title race. Arriving in Germany thirty-three points behind championship leader Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) with two rounds remaining, the Brazilian gained seven points from his rival by winning the first of the two races of the weekend ahead of the French, precisely, and the British Alex Quinn (Arden).
For the Brazilian, the difficulty lay more in not being surprised at the restarts after the two Safety Car interventions. The exits from the track of Ugo De Wilde (Arden), caught in contact with Petr Ptacek (MP Motorsport) at the first corner and that of Reshad de Gerus (Arden), jostled after another crazy act by David Vidales (JD Motorsport), led to the safety car intervening twice in the first ten minutes of the race.
Author of an attacking race, Hadrien David (MP Motorsport) finished 5th after a virile overtake on Paul Aron (ART Grand Prix). But the Frenchman ended up being penalized 20 seconds for diving and causing contact with the Estonian, who found himself completely across the track. Hadrien David therefore finished 12th, out of the points.
#FormulaRenault – Stewards' decision: 20-second penalty for @HadrienDavid, causing a collision with @PaulAron16.
