Eurocup: the roller coaster for Victor Martins

And eight for Victor Martins! After having signed the two poles and the two victories during the last meeting in Barcelona, the Frenchman got off to a perfect start to his Belgian weekend. The ART Grand Prix driver in fact signed his eighth pole position of the season – the third in a row – at Spa-Francorchamps, by dominating the first qualifying of the weekend.

He will therefore start on the front row of race 2 alongside Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport), who set the 2nd fastest time by a tenth of a second. His rival for the title Caio Collet (R-Ace GP) set the third time and will be banking, as in Barcelona two weeks ago, on a thunderous start to hope to take the Argentinian's scalp at the first corner, in a championship where overtaking in the dry is a complicated mission.

The three men beat the two locals of the stage, since the Belgians Amaury Cordeel (FA Racing) and Ugo De Wilde (Arden) secured a promising top 5, just ahead of the Frenchman Hadrien David (MP Motorsport), who continues his progress with a promising new qualification (6th).

Third in the championship, David Vidales (JD Motorsport) only set the 11th time and could lose ground. The other Frenchman Resahd De Gerus (Arden) qualified 15th. The second qualifying (which governs the grid for race 1) will take place at 10:40 a.m. this Friday, while the first race will start a few hours later at 14:25 p.m.
